Wind and Water Tight!!
This week sees the cabin, wind and water tight and the electricity in,we are really moving on at a great pace. Thank you to all involved. Last week, we had a good meeting with Brian our architect and John our interior designer. They are both working very hard on Calums Cabin and have great ideas, thank you to both of them and all the people that they are involving. The new computer page is nearly up and running, this will give more information and visual images allowing hopefully the site to increase the number of hits it gets on a weekly basis. We are hopefully having a Christmas Raffle this year, more details in the coming weeks, but as usual the prizes are of a very high standard. We have been allocated a collection at Fir Park, Motherwell’s football ground on Saturday 13th December, between 1.30 and 3p.m., anyone who can help, please contact us as soon as possible, so the rota can be made up. Talking about rotas. we have a slot for bag packing in the new year, anyone who can spare an hour, please come forward. Thanks. Thanks again to each and everyone,it is truely wonderful.

All going on…………………
This week, should see the roof progressing well, some of the velux windows are going in, the other windows have been delayed by a few weeks, but the builder assures us that that shouldn’t delay the project too much. Wednesday of this week, should see the power being connected, and as I said previously each week you see a hugh difference. Thank you to all who are working in this horrendous weather, and pushing it on, it is really freezing out at the Straad and our thanks go to “the boys” for braving it!! The great selling calanders will be on sale again soon, with some spectacular views of the island, thank you to all who are involved in making these. We are also in the process of trying to make new supporters badges and will have more details about these in the forthcoming weeks. This week sees Brian our architect meet with John our designer for the first time, so we are really looking forward to getting them together and progressing even further. We also have a meeting this week with Clic Sergent to talk about how they deal with all their bookings and learn as much as possible from them. Thank you to everyone this week for giving up of their time for Calums…

The roof is nearly ready to go on!!
The cabin has moved on very fast since the kit arrived just over 2 weeks ago. The whole structure is now up and you can see everything very clearly, which is amazing since we seem to have been looking at plans for ages. The stain glass window was ordered this week and it will be fantastic I am sure, and be the whole focal point of the cabin. The cost of the window was much higher than had been initially thought, so we will need to keep fundraising hard. There is a fundraising event in Livingston on Friday 31st October at 8pm at Lanthorn,Kenilworth Rise,Dedridge, tickets costing £4.50. If you stay on the mainland, or fancy a night away, then I am sure everyone will be made more than welcome. Thank you to all who are taking the time to organise this event. Our wee friend Katie, is doing well just now, last week she was allowed out of isolation and had some time with her wee sister, the first time they have seen each other in 6 weeks. Katie still has a long journey ahead of her, please keep her in your thoughts and prayers. Thank you again to everyone who has got us to this stage

The Kit has arrived!!!
The kit arrived on Wednesday of last week, in the pouring rain, what an arrival. It was captured on film by the BBC and we would like to thank everyone who has helped to get it here and to the stage it is at just now, only 6 weeks since the start of the build. A lot of people think that this is the exciting bit, and it is, but to us the families arriving, being able to help wee faces smile and make memories will be to us what it is all about. Thanks this week also to the individuals who are spreading the word, nationally!!, Calums Cabin now has collecting cans in a variety of places including Edinburgh, Glasgow,Irvine and new ones in Rutherglen this week, thank you, all the wee pennies fair mount up and will make such a difference. This coming week, hopefully we will see another improvement in the build, have final meetings with the stain glass window man, and get our interior designer together with our architect. Everything is moving at a very fast pace, thank you all for that.

Oh what a night
Where do I start this week, what an amazing fund raising night we had on Saturday night. Terry Neason and Karen Dunbar were absolutely fabulous, they had the audience in fits of laughter and everyone left complaining of sore faces since they were laughing so much. Thank you so much to both of these superb ladies, to our compare for the evening, to the school and janitor,to the lighting and sound gentleman, to our trustees for selling tickets and raffle tickets, and most of all for all of you for coming and making the night so enjoyable and helping to raise around £5,000!! Thank you. The work on site is progressing really well, and well on track for hopefully the kit arriving next week, thank you to all involved. This week we are meeting with the gentleman who is designing the stain glass window, and we are also having various other meetings with individuals who hopefully will be able to help us along the way. Everyone is very supportive and we thank you all so much.
