46!!!!
Thanks this week, to everyone who is helping with the building work and the utilities that are going into the cabin, it is great, the more we save, the more we can spend on the families. Thanks also to the residents of the Straad for all their patience just now and in the coming weeks with all the work going on. Thanks also to the “fit people” who ran in aid of Calums Cabin last week at the Great Scottish 10k run in Glasgow. You put us all to shame, thanks. We have managed to acquire some more Karen Dunbar tickets, so we now have another 46 left, so if anyone is still considering…. the time is now. Karen and Terry guarantee a great night, see you there. Katie, our wee friend who had her bone marrow transplant last Thursday, is doing so far so good. She didn’t have any immediate rejection, however, she has a long process ahead of her, with perhaps two-three months in isolation. Please keep remembering Katie and all the other wee souls. Thanks again to everyone, you are all just amazing.

Pushing on
This weeks thanks go to all who have worked tirelessly, and have managed in a week to get the foundations dug and the cement poured, what an achievement in such a short space of time. Thank you. This week, the block work has started and hopefully will be finished in the next few weeks,then more cement is added and part of the drainage is done. Each week we will see an improvement and another stage achieved. It’s only 2 weeks come Saturday until we have our Karen Dunbar evening, there are a few tickets left in Print Point if you still don’t have them. We were privilaged this week to have Terry Neason come on board, many of you might remember her from her television work in the past, anyway, Duncan and I met her at The Lord Provosts Burns Supper away back in January and she has agreed to come along and be part of Karen’s show on the 27th. Two amazing ladies, what a treat we have instore. Katie’s transplant was moved and is now on Thursday 11th of this week. She has this week been going for radiotherapy, and in her usual wee style, has been upbeat about it all. That is the amazing thing about all the children that you meet,…

The Cabin
Here is a picture of the cabin. Hopefully in 16 weeks time, this is what Calums Cabin will look like, thanks to all of you. The work started today, and hopefully the weather will be with us for a couple of weeks, so that things can get started with the sun shinning!!! Good luck to 15 Ayrshire firemen who are cycling 58 miles around Arran on Saturday in aid of Calums Cabin, we will all be thinking about you. The tickets for Karen Dunbar are rapidly disappearing, and the raffle tickets are going like hotcakes, thank you to all who have so far purchased raffle tickets, remember anyone wishing tickets please go into Printpoint at the corner of Bishop Street. Also please remember to those who have bought tickets that the event is in the new joint campus, at Townhead. Thanks again.

The Build Begins!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Monday 1st September, exactly 80 weeks since our fundraising began, Calums Cabin will begin a new chapter. The digging will start and the foundations will be laid, in one way we have waited a long time for this day to come and in another way we have all come much further than we could have initially imagined, and that is thanks to each and everyone who has contributed in anyway at all, you have all played a part in this wonderful jigsaw, and whether it be a small part or a large part, you have all played a part and Duncan, Jenna and I thank you all from the bottom of our hearts. We of course thank Calum most of all, since it is Calum who has driven the whole project, and paid the biggest price of all. We are hoping that the build will be a 16 week build and should be fully completed by Christmas, allowing us to start inviting families to come at the beginning of next year. We are desperate for this to happen, as it is a sad fact but the waiting list is getting longer and there are so many wee people and their families that Calums Cabin can help. Lapel Badge
Thank you this week again,to those of you who have purchased Karen Dunbar tickets and those of you who have also purchased raffle tickets, fingers crossed that you win. There is still plenty of time to buy raffle tickets, either from Print Point or direct from ourselves at £1 a strip. This week we are having a stall at the Highland Games to sell tickets and merchandise, fingers crossed for all involved that it is a lovely day, and the games are a success. The Annual Flower Show is being held at the Pavilion on 30th and 31st August, again this year, there is a class for Calums Cabin. This year it is in the Older Children’s section, ages 9 to 12 years, are they have been asked to design a lapel badge to be worn to support Calums Cabin. Entries must be listed on an entry form and submitted to Bute Community Links, 12 Bishop Street, during the week prior to the show. Entries close at 5pm on the Thursday and the fee is 10p per exhibit. Hopefully a lot of young people will have a go, and some lucky person will receive the prize. Good Luck. Raffle Prizes
Thank you to everyone who again has purchased Karen Dunbar tickets, Printpoint have 85 tickets left, so if you are wanting to go, you had better get in fast!! On the night we will also be having a raffle, but being Calums Cabin, it will be no ordinary raffle, first prize will be an all inclusive two night stay at Auchrannie on the Isle of Arran for two people; second prize, two night bed and breakfast at the 4 star George Hotel in Edinburgh for two people and third prize a night at the Hilton Strathclyde for 2 people, dinner, bed and breakfast. Thereafter there will also be a few ordinary prizes, so even if you can’t make it to the event, make sure you buy your raffle tickets!! These can be purchased from Printpoint, committee members, by cheque to “Calenna”, 61 Mountstuart Road, Rothesay, Isle of Bute PA20 9LD, enclosing a stamped addressed envelope, or by paying via pal-pal (on home page) and noting your details, and we will email you back with your ticket numbers. The price of the tickets are £1 per strip…….a bargain!!!!
