Firstly, thank you to everyone who played football yesterday, and had a fun day helping to raise money at the same time. The trophy stayed in Bute this year, being won by the Bute Help Project, and anyone wishing to see the trophy will see it in their window in Victoria Street, well done boys. The tickets for Karen Dunbar are going fast, about a third of them are away already, thanks to everyone who has purchased already. Karen this week returns to the Guilded Balloon in Edinburgh for the fringe where she is until 24th August, doing her one woman comedy show, which she performed earlier this year in Australia and will bring to us on 27th September. I somehow don’t think there will be a dry eye in the house, that night! I am back to my letter writing, we are applying again to a variety of trusts and foundations for assistance, fingers crossed. Thank you to all the local tradesmen who have come forward to offer their time, what a difference that will make, it is greatly appreciated, since the more money we can save, the more that can be spent on the families. Thanks again to everyone.

Karen Dunbar
The tickets for Karen Dunbar will go on sale in Print Point and from committee members from Tuesday 29th July, these will be on a first come first served basis and in the unlikely event that there are some left, tickets will be sold at the door on the night. The evening will be held at the new School Campus, on Saturday 27th September, doors open 7.15pm for the show commencing at 8p.m. Tickets are priced at £12.50. See you there, it will be really funny and enjoyable evening. Brian our architect, has managed to alter some features about the cabin and hopefully we are just about ready to sign on the dotted line and building will be able to get started. We seem to have had a very long wait, but everthing takes time, I know, so hopefully soon. Katie, our wee friend, who I have talked about before, has had wonderful news, a donor has been found (infact 3 new matches have come onto the list) and her transplant operation takes place on Thursday 21st August. Katie will have to undergo intense chemo before the transplant and after, as well as radiotherapy. Please keep Katie and her family, Mum Siobhan, Dad Neil and wee sister Libby in your thoughts and prayers. As well…

Our architect Brian has been working on ways to reduce the costs of the cabin, and also with the help of everyone who has so far offered their services, hopefully we will be able to start building quite soon. We have all waited a long time for this, so fingers crossed we are nearly there. Thanks to everyone who has come forward, and keep coming if you are interested in helping at all. It will make you feel good, I can assure you, to help such needy families. Sunday 3rd August just to remind you all again, is the football 5 aside tournament at the school playing fields, application forms are available from the help project in Victoria Street, so on you go, get a team together and have some fun and fresh air, all in a good cause. Duncan is even thinking about dusting of his football boots, so if he can do it, anyone can!!! Thanks to everyone again.

We received the first quote last week for the building of Calums Cabin, unfortunately, it was not easy reading, what I mean by that was it was much higher than we had anticipated. We are waiting on the other quotes, however, it might be back to the drawing board, and it might be the case that we have to go to various individual contractors and ask how they can help, so beware when you see Duncan and I approaching!! No, honestly, we just need it built, Calums Cabin has the monies to pay a reasonable amount but we are a charity and need all the help we can get. We were in contact this week with CLIC Sergant (who help with holidays also for terminally ill children) and they have a waiting list of over 200 families desperately needing a holiday, just for the months of July and August. That is why we need to be up and running as soon as possible. This weekend is the Bikers weekend and they are holding as I previously mentioned a raffle for Calums Cabin, thanks go to them and everyone who purchased or will purchase this weekend. Thanks also to everyone who has given this week, in any way at all.

Everyone is so generous
Lots of thanks this week; firstly to all you wonderful people that have come forward offering of your time and expertise to help build Calums Cabin, it is so generous of you, thank you. However, we are still short of some trades, so if you have been thinking about coming forward please do, because the more offers we have, the less each of you have to do!!!! Thanks so much. There are a lot of people doing a lot of amazing things behind the scenes, thanks to each and everyone of them. Brian our architect has been on holiday, so hopefully this week should see him back in action and us moving forward. Thanks to the scooter enthuasists who had a great weekend on Bute and gave generously through their raffle on Saturday night, thank you. We are in the process of making Karen Dunbar tickets and they should be on sale within the next few weeks, just to remind you, the date is Saturday 27th September, in the new School Campus. Thanks to everyone who donates daily through collection cans, monthly by standing standing and really any way at all, what a wonderful community we live in, that is our community here on Bute and the wider community also, that send donations and raise…

Hopefully we are getting there!!!!!!!
This week, we met with John Amabile, he was really lovely and just the way that you see him on television, he is really looking forward to helping with the interior design of Calums Cabin and is already speaking to a variety of supplies to see if they are willing to donate items and materials. Brian our architect, advises that the tenders are now all back in, so hopefully we will know soon, who will be building Calums Cabin. This is the time, that if anyone, would like to help by donating their services or materials, then please speak up, and we can organise the deduction of that amount from the Open Book of services and quantities. Thank you. The more we can have donated then the more we can help the families in other ways. Thank you this week to everyone who is donating rather than having birthday presents, and remembering Calums Cabin in a variety of other ways, either by monthly standing orders, through collection cans, through buying our merchandise or in anyway at all. Thank you. It is just over a month until the Calum Speirs Memorial Football trophy, if you are over 16 and can get a team of 5 players together, please come along, entry forms are available
