Holiday Inn, East Kilbride, Saturday 10th May 11 - 3pm
Just a reminder that anyone who can, please go to the Holiday Inn, East Kilbride on Saturday between 11 and 3pm to give a drop of blood to help save Katie and other childrens lives. Many of you perhaps read Katie’s story yesterday in the Sunday Mail, this is Katie’s only chance, she needs a transplant, and perhaps you reading this are the one that can help. We surely can do our bit to help leukaemia sufferers. Ideal donors are males between the age of 18-40, however anyone between that age can give a sample, if reading this, you like me are too old!!!!, then that doesn’t stop us still helping, we all know people under the age of 40, so please pass on the message and encourage them to attend on Saturday. I know that Siobhan and Neil, Katie’s mum and dad will be eternally grateful. Thanks. Thanks to everyone, this week,who donated at various events over the Jazz weekend, and those that helped pass on the message. Really just thank you to everyone.

Our First Wedding!!!!!!!!!!!
Another busy week, spreading the message. Friday sees collections on the ferries, this being jazz festival weekend, the Island is really busy, so our message and what we are achieving can be spread even further, thank you to all who are taking part and thank you in advance to all who donate. Friday also sees our first, Calums Cabin Wedding!!!! Strange you might think, but what a lovely idea. Emma is getting married and instead of having favours at her wedding, she donated the monies to Calums Cabin, and will give each guest a card instead of a favour, she has also made posters and has a collecting can on the bar at her reception. Thank you Emma. We did not know Emma, her future husband and daughter before she emailed us, so Thank you so much, and have a lovely day. The date for Karen Dunbar is nearly organsied, and we should know for sure by next week,please remember the fun run on Sunday 15th June, more details to follow, plus so much more. Thanks again to everyone.

Thank you
A large amount of thank you’s this week. Thank you to the Lord Provost and all his staff who welcomed us to the City Chambers last Monday for the presentation of funds from The Burns Supper in January. The Evening Times were also present, so that should mean more coverage for Calums Cabin. Thank you. Thank you to all who managed to go to St Andrews School on Thursday evening to be tested for The Anthony Nolan Trust, Katie’s mum and dad and lots of other families are most grateful I am sure. Thanks. Next weekend, the weekend of the Jazz, Cal Mac have allowed us to do a collection on the ferries, thank you to all who are taking part, and you never know, someone that you speak to might be needing to use Calums Cabin, or might know of a child/family that we can help. Thanks. Good luck this week and thank you to all who have sponsorship forms for various sponsored walks, runs, any activities at all. Thank you. Rotary Young Citizen
What a busy week again, but that’s the way we like it. We left for Blackpool on Thursday as Jenna had been awarded a Rotary Young Citizen award. This was held in the Winter Gardens in Blackpool with around 2500 rotarians present. Jenna along with another 2 individuals and 2 groups were each given an award, £500 for their chosen charity and the opportunity to be interviewed live for news 24. Thank you to all who were involved, Jenna had a lovely day and as we always say the reason that we do these things, is to increase the awareness and spread the word about Calums Cabin and Jenna sure did that at the weekend. Thank you. Last week, we were also in talks with entertainer and comedian Karen Dunbar, Duncan had had the pleasure of sitting beside her at the Lord Provosts Burns Supper in Glasgow, in January and had a throughly entertaining evening, anyway, we asked if she could perhaps come and do a one woman show for us, just like the one that she has been performing all over the country and in Austraila recently. This hopefully will be a great way for us to gain funds for Calums Cabin. We are hoping that she will be coming at the end of…

Ready Steady Cook!!!
Hope you all managed to see Calum’s Cabin receiving the £100 donation on Wednesday’s Ready Steady Cook. Thank you to Blythe for raising our profile and for donating her winnings. Planning permisssion, we hope will be finalised within the next few weeks and then it will be the turn of applying for a building warrant. Thank you to all who have come forward already offering their time and services. We will contact you once we need your help and experteese….. I promise. Again, as you all know there is a lot going on behind the scenes and although it might seem quite quiet and we aren’t moving fast just now, I reassure you a lot is going on. More fund raising nights are on the cards quite soon, will let you know once everything is finalised. Thank you again to all who are starting to organise events again, those who are beginning to run again, and have sponsorships, those who give instead of giving presents, those who donate monthly by standing order or those who donate daily by collecting can. Sponsorship
Today saw the triathlon, it was a really good day albeit the weather was a wee bit dodgy at times, a worthy winner was found for Calums trophy. Thanks to all who had individual sponsorship, it is greatly appreciated. Sadly, our proposed second family won’t be coming just now, since the wee boy who isn’t well, has just lost his mum to cancer also, her funeral service was last week. Our thoughts are prayers go to them all. Thanks this week to individuals who have come forward again this year to match fund, this is a wonderful opportunity to double any income raised from fundraising. Thank you. Jenna as many of you might already know, has been nominated by the Rotary Club for one of their awards at their annual national conference, she has been awarded Young Citizen of the Year.
