The Queen's Award for Voluntary Service

What an honour it is for our charity to receive such an amazing award…

In the last 12 years, we have been extremely fortunate to meet a number of special people who have helped us on our journey to transform Calums Cabin into everything it is today, allowing us to provide the opportunity for children and young people with cancer and their families to make special, lasting memories on holiday together on the Isle of Bute. What we didn’t know then is how we would grow and adapt to the needs of our families and alongside providing holidays, we are now able to support families from the moment a child is diagnosed, by offering a private, relaxing “home from home” in our Glasgow flats when travelling many miles to The Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre or to the Royal Hospital for Children for treatment. We know for certain that we could not have got to where we are today without the loyal, generous and unfailing support of our volunteers. You’re there for us practically, emotionally and even spiritually and we are truly grateful to you all.

Therefore, it is an incredible honour to announce that the efforts of our volunteers has been recognised in the most special way and Calums Cabin is extremely proud to receive

The Queens Award for Voluntary Service!

For our volunteers who are with us daily, weekly, monthly or occasionally, we honestly cannot express enough that we couldn’t do any of what we do without you all.

For all our fundraisers who help in so many ways by running or attending events, taking on personal challenges or simply going out there and raising awareness of the charity for us and introducing us to new supporters, you help us keep everything going.

On behalf of the 1391 children, young people and families that we have supported since Calum’s idea came to fruition, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We treasure all the memories we have made with all our volunteers, families and supporters and we feell privileged to be able to continue working with you all to keep Calum's dream alive.
