We're going for gold to raise as much as possible for our families

This year has sadly been our busiest yet here at Calums Cabin.

Thanks to your support, no matter how big or small, we have been able to adapt to the needs of our families where possible  which means we have been able to increase the accommodation available for holidays AND for our families staying in Glasgow for treatment. Your support and encouragement helps us to keep going and the impact that all of our services are now having on families is immeasurable.

Can you believe that it has now been two years since we first opened our Glasgow flat? Since then, we have purchased a further two properties as well as renting an additional two flats, short-term, for families in desperate need of accommodation.

We realised when speaking with families that those requiring out-patient cancer care were struggling, meaning some families would need to travel hours and many miles for treatment or be separated for weeks and months at a time. We know that the cost of cancer both emotionally and financially can be draining and we want to support families to have a base during this time to alleviate the day to day stress and allow them to focus only on their child, the wider family and ensure they have adequate support throughout this time.

By the end of 2019, we will have:

Supported 147 families with a visit to

Calums Cabin

Calums Cabin Cottage

Mount Stuart's self catering cottages (March to October)

Dumfries House's self catering cottage

So far in 2019, we have provided:

87 weeks of accommodation in our Glasgow Flats collectively

and we expect this to double for the remainder of the year

The need to support our families is greater than ever. On average, it costs around £750 per week for a family to visit Bute. It costs around £500 per week to accommodate a family in our Glasgow flats and this can be higher for our short-term properties.

Throughout Childhood Cancer Awareness month this September, we're asking if you would consider doing something special to help us and continue making this all possible for families when they need us most.
