Well the Isle of Bute hasn't had the heat wave that hit sunnier shores south of the border, but on the whole it has been warm and with views like this you wouldn't want to be anywhere else in the world. It truly is a wonderful place to come, rest, rejuvenate and build up strength for whatever may lie ahead.

The last weekend in July was amazingly busy,
we had lots on:
A stall at Butefest
Our normal shop
The last 2 days at our pop up shop
(everything had to go)
Bag packing at M&S Paisley Friday raised £808.38 and Saturday £1223.77
And of course it was change over day at the cabin, cottage and Quien for our three families who were arriving the next day and met by our meeter greeters.
Thank you so much to everyone who helped ensure we got through this crazy busy weekend, it means so much we could never do it without you.
It might have rained at the start but it was a great Wee afternoon on the Waverley on Saturday 9th July at our annual ‘trip doon the water’. Thank you to everyone who supported Calums cabin by coming along, and to the Waverley for their continued support.
After 3 days of sorting, packing, moving, organizing, merchandising and re doing window displays we had 2 Calum's Cabin shops in Rothesay for a month....
For the month of July our regular shop on Tower Street was our New and Nearly New Boutique and was full of clothes, shoes and accessories for all the family. Our temporary shop on 113 Montague Street was full of household items you may need or didn't even know you needed and included a vintage china corner and haberdashery area full of all sorts of fabric remnants. Thanks to everyone who helped in both shops over the month of July, to everyone who donates items and to all our volunteers and of course to Diane who has let us use her shop without you all this opportunity wouldn't have been possible
Children's Cancer Awareness Month, please remember all the children fighting their battles just now, the families like us who break everyday as they have lost such a precious part of their family...
The picture above is taken during a memorial service in Glasgow, the balloons (which aren't all shown in this picture) are for each child who has been lost in the last 5 years from the Schiellion ward, and allow us to remember all the hope and dreams that families had for their child gone.
Childhood Cancer claims the lives of more children than all other childhood diseases combined.
Please be vigilant of any early warning signs that you might notice in your child, grandchildren, sibling or friend, please always get any signs checked out. Never take for granted what you have.
Many buildings this month including Calums Cabin will be lit up in yellow, if you see any please remember why it is happening.
The picture above shows so many things to me:
Sadly the large number of children diagnosed,
How the children are smiling and what courage they have and the
Unity and support of each other.
Please today and everyday in September, remember all those fighting this awful disease.
One of our volunteers Isobel shares her story and her amazing families connection with Calums Cabin in an article in the Greenock Telegraph and tells us how we can raise awareness of Childhood Cancer by Glow Gold September. To read more please click on the image below:
